That Lovin' Feelin'
Review by Melanie Nelson

That Lovin’ Feelin’, a musical based on the lives of Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield, The Righteous Brothers, is playing at St. Croix Off Broadway Dinner Theatre located in the Hudson House Grand Hotel, Hudson, WI.

It's a story about survival, perseverance, and growth over the four-decade career of The Righteous Brothers. This is the show's third, and I'm told final mount, by playwright and director Jim Zimmerman. Over the course of six years, script tightening and trying out new songs, Zimmerman has landed on a final script. In fact, this cast is fresh off of great reviews from a four show run at the Chicago Musical Theatre Festival.

The show opens as Bill Medley agrees to an interview with a Western Michigan University newspaper reporter in 2003. As Bill remembers the good times, and is challenged to talk about the tough times, a younger Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield bring his words to life – from the recording studio to stage, to conversations with their producers and the ebb and flow of their relationship.

Lead actors, Greg Lund and Joe Keith, playing Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield together for a third time, lead with strong vocals, endearing characters, and believable performances. Look forward to chills in the audience when they hit the chorus of the title song, "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'."

At one point in the show Medley remarks that it was that feeling they had performing together on stage that kept them together. And that feeling is something the whole cast lays out on the floor at St. Croix Off Broadway for the audience to take. The band, the flashy go-go girls, the vocals, the cool stage lights, the ease with which the supporting cast moves from character to character... it's really good stuff. You've got one more chance to truly enjoy an evening with The Righteous Brothers.

Enjoy your wait staff as they get you a scrumptious meal, and save room for dessert during intermission!

The musical runs weekends through October 29th at St. Croix Off Broadway Dinner Theatre. Get your tickets by calling 715-386-2394 ext. 333 or order them online at www.stcroixoffbroadway.com.
